Black Tie Elegance Meets Fun Cocktail Style Reception
When we say we are Down for Whatever, we really mean it!
Jimmy and Erin were an amazing couple to work with and we couldn’t believe their vision at first. A black-tie reception with pizza? Challenge ACCEPTED!!!!!
Erin and Jimmy’s day started at Hotel Monaco- known for its unique interior decor and nestled in Philadelphia’s Old City neighborhood, it was anything but plain. Their first look was staged on the gorgeous steps of Second Bank of the United States building and followed with bridal party pictures in Signer’s Garden right across the street from Hotel Monaco.
From there we boarded a bus and headed to The Neighborhood House, known for its indoor basket ball court turned performance venue on the historic Christ Church campus.
Their ceremony was housed in their bright and airy Great Hall which allowed for a modern and simplistic ceremony led by a well-known law professor. From their unplugged ceremony- guests headed upstairs and were greeted by bandleader Jimi from The Big House Band for cocktail hour and we headed right into reception.
It was amazing- Happy smiles all around when guests spotted a man entering in typical Manco and Manco boardwalk uniform delivering massive pizzas to act as centerpieces and Chipotle’s buffet opened in the lobby. It didn’t stop there- since Chik-Fil-A is notoriously closed on Sundays, we coordinated a spin-off Chicken Sandwich passed in red diner baskets from Brothers Catering. What a treat it was paired with a specialty drink- Spiked Hot Cider for the wintery month and wines from around the world provided by Jason from MFW Wine Company. We definitely can’t forget about the Rolling Rock, the fun Groom’s favorite.
Their reception was nothing short of a blast! Guests loved the couples fun food ideas and were awed when Jimmy performed a guitar solo to his new wife. The night was wrapped up with Wawa hoagies and coffee To Go and -you could have guessed it- Federal Donuts right off our custom donut wall.
Like every event (our industry friends can agree)- this one had its trials. Dealing with such historic preserved properties, Philadelphia planners and designers can agree that some spaces are harder to work with than others. Fitting the guest count into this small space was a challenge, overcome by numerous floor plans to create a fun cocktail styled reception that fit right in with the theme of the night.
Immediately after their wedding Jimmy and Erin were off to New Zealand for an amazing honeymoon. We were jealous to say the least. Thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your big day, it was truly a pleasure!
